Public Bones Concert
As is our tradition, we'll be holding a Bones Concert for the public from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Saturday, July 29, 2006. The Concert will be at the Unitarian Universalist Church located at 71 Eighth St. in New Bedford, MA, only about a block and a half from Gallery X where the rest of the Fest is being held. If you can't play the bones all weekend, or if you want just a taste of the bones, or if you're just curious, please consider coming! We'll have a box for a small, voluntary donation, but if that's too much, we think you should be able to see the bones for free, so please come anyway.
Location
Our location for the Fest this year is a cooperative art gallery housed in an old church building. Gallery X is one of the highlights of New Bedford’s burgeoning arts and music scene, and is located in the historic downtown area, near many cafés, shops, restaurants, and museums.
The building has two floors: a downstairs gallery with a small kitchen attached, and a main gallery with a large stage area. The building is completely handicap accessible, with a ramp entrace into the lower gallery, an elevator, and accessible restrooms. The Gallery is located at 169 William St, New Bedford, MA 02740. See their web site at http://www.galleryx.org

Travel to the Fest
New Bedford is accessible from both Boston’s Logan (approx. 1 hr. drive) and Providence’s Green airports, (approx. 45 minute drive). From Boston, you’ll travel south on I-93, and from Providence, east on I-195. We will be arranging several pickups from each airport, and helping bones-players to coordinate rides with each other.
Driving Directions to New Bedford:
- From North of Boston: Take I-95 south around Boston, and continue on I-93 south. Take exit 4 onto Route 24 south, then exit 12 onto Route 140 south (in Taunton). To get to the Days Inn, take exit 3 off Rt. 140, turn right off the ramp (onto Hathaway Rd.), and the hotel will be up the hill on the left. To get to Gallery X, continue south on Rt. 140 to the end. Take a left onto Kempton St. (also Route 6) and follow 1.4 miles turning right onto County St. Turn left onto William St. (third street on left). The Gallery is a short block and a half down on the left.
- From West of Boston: Take I-90 east to exit 11A onto I-495 south. Take exit 7B onto Route 24 south and follow above directions from there.
- From other points West and South: Take I-95 north to Providence, RI. Take exit 20 onto I-195 east. Follow for approx. half an hour. To get to the Days Inn, take exit 13B onto Route 140 north. Take exit 3, turning right off the ramp (onto Hathaway Rd.), and the hotel will be up the hill on the left. To get to Gallery X, continue east on I-195 and take exit 15 onto Route 18 south. Take a right at the second light onto Union St. Follow up the hill through a series of lights taking a right onto County Street. Take the first right onto William St. The Gallery is a short block and a half down on the left.

Bus/Train Travel to the Fest
- Buses from Boston to New Bedford are run by Dattco. See the schedules here.
Round trip fare is $20, one-way fare is $11. The trip takes about an hour and 20 minutes each way.
To get to the Boston Bus Station (South Station) from Boston Logan airport, take the Silver line (which is part of the subway system, but is actually a bus). This will bring you under the train station, and you will need to walk to the adjacent building to get to the bus terminal. The gate for the Dattco buses is almost all the way to the end of the corridor on the upper floor of the bus terminal, on the right. You can buy tickets from the driver.
- Buses from Providence (and New York City) are run by Bonanza. You can get the schedule by going to the Bonanza site, clicking on "Schedules" in the sidebar and following the directions. Alternatively, you can call 888-751-8800, which is a free phone call. Fare is $20 round-trip and $10 one-way.
You may notice on the website that there are two bus stations listed for Providence. One of these, the Kennedy Plaza station, is in downtown Providence, and may be useful if you arrive in Providence by train. Most travelers will use the main Bonanza terminal, just outside of the city, which is the destination for all buses going to Providence and which runs a shuttle service to Providence's T. F. Green airport.

Hotel Information
The Bones Fest hotel is:
New Bedford Days Inn
500 Hathaway Rd.
New Bedford, MA 02740
phone: 508-997-1231 fax: 508-984-7977
The group rate is $89 per night. If you are interested in finding a roommate, please contact Melissa and Jonathan, as we’ll be trying to help people save money with sharing rooms and splitting costs.
We have 50 rooms reserved right now in our group block. When you call, tell them you're part of the "BONES FEST" group and ask for the group rate.
The catch is (there's always a catch, right?): you need to reserve BEFORE JUNE 28. That's 30 days before the Fest. After that, the rooms go back into the public inventory, and they will quickly be snapped up by all the other lovely people who vacation in the New Bedford area.
There are rooms with 2 double beds and rooms with king sized beds. Most of the rooms are non-smoking, but then, most of the attendees in past Bones Fests have been non-smokers. Continental breakfast is included, and if the hotel is filled to capacity (which is likely, since they say they always sell out that weekend), then a full breakfast will be included with the room.
